Rev.
Doris
Davis
Rev. Doris Davis serves as the pastoral care counselor and chaplain at Westside Unity Church. She is Available round the clock at (310) 836-3372.
She defines herself as "a freelance mystic -- at large."
From 1997 to 2004 she was the church administrator for Westside Unity Church in Culver City, California. For most of that time -- because the church was without a full-time minister -- she found she was called to perform many of the functions of a pastor: leading midweek services, teaching classes, and even spiritual counseling. The decision to seek ordination seemed like a logical next step.
In June 2006, she was ordained as an Interfaith Minister at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City, with the 25th Anniversary Class of The Seminary, based in New York City.
Since Interfaith Ministry does not define itself in terms of a specific denomination, she does not confine her ministry to any established religious tradition. Rather, her work is to minister to the larger spirital community, and has served many years as President of her local Culver Area Interfaith Alliance, which is made up of individuals and organizations representing the broad spectrum of religious and spiritual endeavor including -- but not limited to -- Jews, Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs and Baha'is. Their aim is to bring about interfaith understanding through fellowship, dialogue, education, and community service.
Doris is the mother of four grown children: Lila, Viveka, Brain and Keith, and has one geanddaughter, Trinity. Her husband, Laurence Edward Davis, is deceased.
