UNITY is a link in the great educational movement inaugurated by Jesus Christ; our objective is to discern the truth in Christianity and prove it. The truth that we teach is not new, neither do we claim special revelations or discovery of new religious principles. Our purpose is to help and teach mankind to use and prove the eternal Truth taught by the Master.”
— Charles Fillmore*
UNITY in some ways is a Christian denomination. There are Unity gatherings in many parts of the world. Generally these gatherings are called churches. They meet for a worship/celebration type service on Sundays and an ordained minister usually officiates. But unlike traditional Christian denominations, Unity does not present or insist that its adherents subscribe to a certain set of predetermined beliefs. Unity has no set church doctrine; rather, it has teachings culled from the Bible, which it invites us to investigate in the context of our Judeo-Christian heritage. Unity then supports us in the practical expression of this spirituality in our lives.
UNITY is welcoming of all races, social backgrounds and economic levels in dignity and love. Unity is sometimes confused with other denominations, such as Unitarian or the Unification Church, but there is no connection. Unity proclaims the divinity of Jesus, but goes even further by proclaiming that every person is a child of God and therefore divine in nature. We believe that a person’s mind is his or her connecting link with God or Divine Mind. Therefore much emphasis is placed on the effective power that every thought, feeling, word or act has in creating one’s life. We also place strong emphasis on prayer and meditation.
